JDM was founded by John McGann, an 8th generation native NYC'er, whose career encompasses such diverse but related areas as software development, songwriting and arranging, and political fundraising. His career in web development began in early 1995 when, working part-time in a physician's office as database developer to support his artistic habits, he discovered 'Gopher' and the naiscent World Wide Web. Realizing that the internet offered opportunities for change, experimentation, and progress (unlike the jaded music industry stuck in the ogilopolistic tendencies of large corporations), he chose the road less taken, and found an abundance of freeagents, freethinkers, and like-minded entrepreneurs along the way.
